Frequently Asked Questions

What kind of therapy does Lexington Psychotherapy provide?

We utilize a blend of modalities in our work, drawing from psychodynamic psychotherapy, cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT), dialectical behavior therapy (DBT), and Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT). We also incorporate mindfulness techniques and somatically-oriented interventions. We work from a strengths-based, trauma-informed perspective and tailor the therapeutic process based upon your specific needs.

How frequently do I meet with my therapist? How long are therapy sessions?

We see our clients on a weekly basis. For some, especially early in the treatment process, you may meet twice per week. The first session is sixty minutes long, follow-up sessions are forty-five minutes.

How is working with a therapist different from talking to my friends and family about my problems?

The therapeutic relationship is unique in that your therapist has a non-biased understanding of your experience. As therapists, we work to help guide you to make positive changes in your life, and our role as an objective outsider provides a safe space to connect openly and honestly. We are trained in effective evidence-based modalities to help you learn skills to help reduce your emotional distress and increase your sense of self-efficacy.

Do you accept insurance?

Lexington Psychotherapy LCSW PLLC is an out-of-network provider with insurance plans. We can provide you with a “superbill” (itemized receipt) to submit to your insurance for reimbursement for your sessions. Some clients prefer to pay out-of-pocket and not utilize their in-network or out-of-network insurance benefits, to ensure total privacy of their treatment information.

Where are you located?

Lexington Psychotherapy LCSW PLLC is a telehealth-based practice, which means you will meet with your therapist through a secure video platform. Our psychotherapists are licensed in New York State, with some therapists also licensed in Connecticut and New Jersey. We see clients located in these states.
